Well since this is the SPOILER forum, I'm just going to go right out and say everything (in other words, post a lot of spoilers in order to explain everything right). As for clace, they are still together by the end of the book, which is encouraging. Also, we see something that to me hinted at a future proposal from Jace to Clary in the epilogue. As for simon/Isabelle, those of you that finished COHF know that it's complicated. So basically, when everyone is still in the demon world, in order to leave, simon sacrifices his immortality as a vampire but also all knowledge of the shadow world and everyone in it, including clary and Isabelle. So Simon is now a mundane and doesn't know clary, Isabelle, etc at all. So simon/Isabelle is basically nonexistant. But in the end, Magnus suggests that simon gets an ascension and be a shadowhunter... In the end, simon vaguely remembers clary and Isabelle, and it looks like given time, they will get back together. As for the character deaths, there were 6: Jordan, Raphael, Sebastian, Maureen, Meliorn, and Amatis... Also there are other minor deaths here and therm but those are the big ones.

Okay. Tessa and Jem are there; Jem is never referred to as 'Jem', even when he is no longer a silent brother (spoiler, but everybody already new that, right)? Tessa has quite a minor role, but Jem appears quite a few times, being kind, saving people, y'know, typical Jem. Emma and Jules actually feature quite a lot, with Emma playing a somewhat important role at times, (but it's not like she goes out and slays a trillion Endarkened or anything). Righty-ho, some big spoiler bits coming up, brace yourselves or avert thy eyes:So, in the end, we know Simon sacrificed his immortality and all the memories of the shadow world along with them to save Team Good from Edom. And for a while, he forgot everything, but then Magnus ex Machina comes along and helps partially restore his memory. Well, eventually he manages to ascend, as can be seen from the Wedding comic strip, a scene that happens in 2009 and is now a part of the Infernal Devices trilogy, where he is depicted standing with Isabel, both covered in runes. I just thought this was a very nice ending for him. Like, he finally made it, finally got real happiness without the drawbacks of being a vampire. He was a nice guy, he deserved some nice things, and he got them. I also thought Sebastian's death was really fitting. It was touching to see a good side to him in the end (bad side being burned away by the Heavenly Fire), and as it turns out, both him and Clary were similar, as they (good, dying Sebastian and Clary) had the same dream/vision - them in a happy family, with Clary about to be married to Jace, and Sebastian as a good brother to Clary and son to Jocelyn. So yeah, I thought that was very nice as well. One thing I wasn't really happy about was the whole Maia/Jordan part. It was kind of disappointing that after Jordan died, Maia revealed that she actually didn't love him anymore, and didn't seem all that fazed that he died. Okay, so there was some warning concerning what she had to say, when she tells Jordan that she has to tell him something urgently, and is worried/nervous about it (sorry for the poorly worded sentence), but in all honesty, taking into account all the sex they'd been having (example: CoLS), I thought she was going to tell him she was pregnant. Yeah... but anyhow, I feel that she should have showed at least a little more emotion over the death of Jordan, as opposed to her (I'm probably paraphrasing here) "Everybody should have somebody holding them when they die" line. It would have been nice for her to get maybe more angry/upset and put that into some reckless retribution that wasn't just quickly stabbing a guy in the face. Always good to see some Jem/Tessa, and whilst I do understand why their relationship/Will/Jem's actual name couldn't really be referred to (too confusing for people who haven't read TID), it was still kind of annoying. But oh well, I guess they'll all finally get their big group-hug-hi-nice-to-meet-you-we're-all-related moment sometime in TDA, but that's still ages away. That's a few of my thoughts, for now...

Oh, I didn't know there was a wedding comic strip... That makes a lot of sense, since there was only 1 wedding in COHF... And I'm glad it was simon and izzy, and that Simon ascended to a shadow hunter, although I thought (and and really hoped) it would be jem and Tessa's. But oh well, I guess we'll see them in TDA, since at the end of the epilogue, I think jem said they were going to Los Angeles... But oh, so long until the next book....

This is the spoiler Forum, but so far I don't see any spoilers. I guess I'll be the one to start. I only JUST finished the book (and I loved it). There are two things that are bothering me though. 1. Wasn't there said to be two weddings? I only saw Luke and Jacqueline's. and 2. There were supposed to be 6 characters we knew who died. I only counted 5 (Maureen, Jordan, Luke's Sister, Jordan, and Raphael <not in that order>) ...Yes. Magnus and Alec DO get back together. Sorry, I said Jordan twice I was thinking Sebastian. That's still only 5 though.

This book is life. That’s all I have to say.
OMG. Cassandra Clare, my hat goes off to you. You really know how to end a series, unlike some other authors I could mention…
So where do I begin? Let me start off by saying that while I’m a huge TMI fan, I actually didn’t like CoFA or CoLS that well, and sort of wished that the series had been left as a trilogy.
I was very skeptical about going into this book. Especially since City of Glass—the book that was originally supposed to be the last Mortal Instruments book—was my favorite in the series. In my mind, nothing could surpass that book, or Clockwork Princess (which in my mind is the best CC book ever written, and while I think that still holds true, CoHF is a CLOSE second to it), but this book truly succeeds with flying colors.
It really says something of Cassandra Clare’s ability that her best books are finales. Most finales no one can ever likes, or can agree about them, but CC crafts them all beautifully.
I went into this book terrified and apprehensive about it, but now I’m telling everyone to read this series. I’ve always told people to read the first trilogy, but now I’m telling you all to read the second trilogy, too, because CoHF is worth it THAT much (and CoLS is good, and CoFA is at least okay—it’s definitely not the worst book I’ve ever read, and I feel like every series has at least one installment that sort of misses the mark, so… you can get through it).
What are some things I can say about this book? The past, present, and future come together flawlessly. This book is a melding pot for The Infernal Devices, The Mortal Instruments, and the Dark Artifices, and it is absolutely fantastic and they all work so well together.
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting Emma PoV’s in this book, and at first I really wanted to skip those parts, but I came to care about her and her family and story so much, that I can’t wait to read TDA now, when I originally thought that I’d bow out of it. Amazing job with that, Cassandra Clare. I’m already feeling things and the weight of this heroine and her story, and you set it all up tremendously.
So, Jace and Clary: I’m not going to lie. These two are my OTP and I love them to DEATH. They’re probably my favorite book couple, but even I had gotten sort of sick of them lately and how they never seemed able to keep their hands to themselves, or how the series was focused too much on their relationship. But my god, were they done absolutely brilliantly in this book. They weren’t the center focus—which is a good thing—but I still felt for them and their love so, so much.
THIS is the Jace and Clary I love. This is the Jace and Clary, and type of Cassandra Clare writing, that I’ve been missing. Seeing how well they work together, how in sync they are, and just how self-sacrificing and how much Shadow Hunters they are… is just truly a sight to behold.
And I can’t help but feel this was the natural ending to their story and I love, love, love it. Everything is perfect, and I am now so glad that the saga didn’t end with CoG.
And one complaint that I’ve always had with Cassandra Clare is that she usually has one second of her characters being happy, but then literally the next second the moment dies and they’re being torn apart. She didn’t do that in this book, really (in fact, I think she poked fun at herself for having done that at one point. LOL.), and it’s all the better for it. Well done in learning from your mistakes, Cassie. Well done.
Malec: I have never really shipped these two. I always thought that Alec was too immature for a relationship and didn’t deserve Magnus (especially after CoLS), and I actually went into this thinking I’d be mad if they ended up together by the end of it. But for the first time ever, CC really made me love this pairing and made it make sense to me. I realized that the problem also lied in Magnus, and by the end of it I couldn’t be more happy that they were together again.
I also feel like this book made me like Alec (and even somewhat Magnus) more as a character—and gave him and some of the others—more of a purpose than ever before. And so I come away from this final installment feeling as though I really know the characters and was there for their development and that it all makes sense and is believable. That is not an easy thing to do.
Simon. Simon. Simon. Simon. Simon. Simon Lewis is my eternal life hero and I am always going to love him. And I was actually so, so satisfied with how Isabelle and his relationship worked out (when I was unsure about what had happened at first), and I just marvel at Simon’s strength of character and the bonds he has with everyone in this book and series.
I can’t give too much away without spoiling it, but Simon’s story definitely ended the best way it could, and it’s actually a relief that that happened (I even ended up predicting it, and had thought about it happening in the first book).
This book was bloody fantastic, guys. I do have a few problems with it, but none that are major and really take away from the book itself. Later I might do another review with spoilers, but for now, let me just say that it has been such a blessing to have this series in my life. And though I’m going to miss it dearly, I’m glad that I was part of it and that it ended on the high note it did.
This might be my favorite finale to a series EVER (because even though I know CP2 has less flaws, the way this ties together TMI and TID and TDA together and wraps it all up—and starts Emma’s story—so well, is truly a sight to behold).
And all I can say now is that more people really need to get into this series, because it more than deserves it. LOL. (and that the new movies need to do better for it!), and that I’m eagerly awaiting TDA now, and will probably always read every book CC ever writes. It truly is an amazing world she’s crafted, and I so love being a part of it:)

Oh, about who the sixth person who died: that was Merilorn. I don't think anyone's mentioned him here yet...
Also, the whole thing with Jordan and Maia sort of bothered me, too. It felt sort of... off somehow. I sort of wonder if A) Cassandra Clare was originally going to have Maia be pregnant but changed her mind and/or was asked to change that because it would have been too sad. Or B) That CC suddenly realized that Maia forgiving Jordan like that may have been giving a bad message to the fans--and maybe seeming a bit OOC because Maia'd always hated boys like Daniel--and decided to change it. IDK. The whole thing was just weird.
There were a few other things that bothered me, as well (though I might have to reread those parts to make sure I comprehended them, or am remembering them, correctly), but for the most part I think the flaws are very minor and I can easily overlook them. I don't think they really hurt the novel in any way, so...
Oh! And where is this wedding strip at exactly?
And did anyone else sort of get a lot of Games of Thrones feelings from this book somehow?
...Sorry for the double post, btw.
