For those of you that haven't heard, The Mortal Instruments will be a show. www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/mipcom-mortal-instruments-return-as-740204?utm_source=twitter What do you guys think about this? I'm excited! Since this will a show, there won't be as much stuff cut out and we'll get to see more of the characters. Wonder if the rest of the books will be seasons? I'm also wondering if at least some of the movie cast will be back for the show. Lily Collins did say she was a fan of the books and Jamie Bower did say he would love to another movie before this was announced, so unless they're both too busy to do the show, then I can't imagine why they wouldn't do this. |

The show absolutely sucks. I can't even sugar coat it, it's really awful. It's entirely different from the books. The cast is terrible, the acting is subpar and not believeable, and the story plot is rubbish. Who had the bright idea of changing literally 95% of the story for this show? It's barely relatable to the books, and the only thing that is relatable are the character's names being the same. The characters themselves, Clary's mother is supposed to be totally against her knowing anything about the Shadow world and the first episode she's giving Clary a stele?!?! WTF?!? And then goes on to explain stuff?? Not to mention Luke is a COP? Not cool. Simon needs an actual band, not just Maureen, who is supposed to be a little girl, not the same age. Whose Dot? Stupid. Jace isn't funny/ sarcastic/ awesome enough. Izzy is too slutty, and Clary isn't anything like the book character. Simon is fine, geeky, nerdy, but there's an underlying coolness to him. The Institute is full of "FBI"-ish ShadowHunters, with technologies out the butt. Really stupid.
The graphics are hit and miss, which is to be expected since the show is on FreeForm/ABCFamily. The runes should be drawn, almost carved and burned into the ShadowHunters skin. Not just them waving the stele over their arm and poof they appear.
The show isn't relatively close to the books that I've read at least two dozen times. They're by far my favorite series and this tv show just kills it. Not in a good way. I'd be surprised if the series has much success and multiple seasons, just saw the ratings, here's a hint, they're not good, and for good reason. The movie was better than this show. It was at least relatable and portrayed the characters and story in mostly the same light. The movie actors were better, more believable and trusting. All in all, i will not be watching the show much longer, unless there is a vast improvement. I love everything about the books, so it's hard to switch gears and except that this show is supposed to be different. I'll give it at least 2-3 more episodes and that's just in good faith and beleiving that they can turn it around since the books were amazingly awesome!

Very disappointing in almost every way. Every episode seems rushed. The camera work is strange. I cannot understand the changes in story line. It is simply change for the sake of change. Make up your own story rather than butcher one that sold well and brought you a fan base that you will not be able to keep. The casting for Magnus is terrible. Although cute, the casting for Alec is off. Hello, blue eyes? Did any of you read the novel? It's a REALLY important physical feature. I can't continue. This show will not last if they do not start being more true to the novel and slow down. Even the characters are in a rush and panting all the time. I just can't...it's so disappointing.
