Can anyone who's read the book tell me about the spoiler photo where Jace and clary are underwater getting intimate? I'm not sure how much longer I can stand their lip brushing! About a quarter of the way through CoHF and I've got to say Clare is doing a pretty good job so far

I think what we really need to be discussing is what shadowhunter name simon will take once he ascends? i think he might take fairchild to honor jocelyn and clary My guess is that it will either be 'Shadowhunter' (IIRC, that's the way that Charlotte addressed Sophie after she ascended, something like "rise, Sophia Shadowhunter" or something along the lines of that). Or, maybe he'll adopt himself into the Lightwood family via marriage, and just take Isabelle's surname. Can anyone who's read the book tell me about the spoiler photo where Jace and clary are underwater getting intimate? I'm not sure how much longer I can stand their lip brushing! About a quarter of the way through CoHF and I've got to say Clare is doing a pretty good job so far Well, let's just say that it's Jace + Clary's equivalent of the Dirty Sexy Dungeon Scene, although not quite as intense due to the fact that neither of them have suffered a recent huge emotional loss/think they're going to die the next day.

According to the Shadowhunter wiki (and I remember reading it somewhere else) once they ascend they pick their own Shadowhunter name from one of the old families. So I'm guessing they can't just make one up. But Izzy seems like the type of gal who would keep her last name and make her husband adopt it. because she's the boss in that marriage. I think when Charlotte says "rise, Sophie Shadowhunter" I think that its more like a ritual thing and its more like a formal declaration she's a Shadowhunter, not necessarily that Shadowhunter will be her first name.

Am I the only one, who was a bit disappointed? If I would rate the book, I'd give an 8.7. I was expecting /more/ death, bloodshed and action. But I loved the epilogue. I'm like /not/ making sense right now. I love it but I was disappointed

I'm like /not/ making sense right now. I love it but I was disappointed I agree, like, whilst I did enjoy it, I didn't enjoy it anywhere near as much as CP2. I'll still re-read it again in a couple weeks time, but with CP2 it was like "woahhhhh", to the extent that even though I finished CP2 at 4 in the morning and went to school the next day (so 3 hours sleep), it had me thinking about it so much that I managed to not fall asleep in any classes. CoHF, whilst it was good, didn't have me thinking for ages, marveling over what I'd just read. I felt like large amounts of the book were just build ups for TDA.

It didn't feel like an ending in a series. It felt as though all of their story lines will be continuing in TDA. I also wanted more closure with Tessa and Jace. I wanted their connection to finally be revealed to everyone, and I wanted him to see that he wasn't alone. I have to say that I was disappointed with the ending. I was hoping for something more similar to CP2... more emotional, conclusive, and poetic. Bonus: I just read that Clare is going to be writing a series that takes place in Edwardian England once TDA is completed. I CANNOT WAIT! I'm hoping we will meet James and Lucie (Will and Tessa's children).

Just finished COHF this morning and I am so sad it's over! I think his was my favorite book of the series. The action was non stop and the Clary and Jace parts were the beeeeesssssst! And I loved how we got to know Emma and Jules a little so we know their back story before the Dark Artifices comes out. I was completely glued to this book for the past few days. Don't worry though none of our favorites were killed off. I laughed my ass off and cried like a baby towards the end. Though I really wish we had a look at Clary and Jace in the future maybe when they were married and had kids that would have been awesome. But she did wrap it up quite nicely I must say. And I really liked how Sebastian went out that was pretty awesome. I was a bit lost in some places only bc I haven't read the Infernal Devices yet, I wanted to finish this series first. So I'm going to start that right away. All in all I absolutely loved this series. Probably my fav next to Song of Ice and Fire series. I just really hope they will do better on the next movie bc the first one kinda pissed me off. And I think bc I had Alex Pettyfer as my Jace instead of Jamie. Maybe it would have been better to do a show instead of movies, they could explain everything in better detail. But I'm looking forward to more movies if it keeps the series alive ☺️

KK this forum chat so far has been totally NOT supportive. 1) Its a spoiler forum, meaning everyone here should have read the book, but everyone is asking whats happened instead. 2) I don't believe in spoiling books to people that haven't read them yet. No one should be robbed of the experience to be shocked and surprised, to be thrown on an emotional roller coaster (pardon the cliche). SO IF YOU ARE READING THIS AND HAVENT READ THE BOOKS YET, STOP NOW. I need to rant and this is the only place to do it, so I am, but I really hope that no one will use this as I spoiler and I'll try to keep my discussion vague. So I will say that the book was awesome, but I wanted to see more of Tessa (my favorite character in all Cassandra Clare books ever) and I would have liked something a little more interesting and new as the final climax. I felt like I knew how it was going to end from the beginning, and I surprise even myself to say that not enough characters died. This was a war, people die, yet everyone that died we barely knew or didn't even know at all (with a few exceptions). The ones that we did now I never particularly liked. There is no way that the main characters, the core of the series, could have literally walked through hell and made it out the other side without many casualties. Its unrealistic. Even City of Glass had Max's death, and that made it real. But as a major Clace shipper, I just have to say I loved it. I could have done without the sex, and with added banter that shows they are friends and not just making out all of the time, but regardless it exceeded my expectations. I was really worried buying this book, but after reading it I am relieved. I can't wait until the Dark Artifices, and I hope to see more of Jace and Clary there! (potentially even a wedding or a little Clace baby, depending on how far into the future it is. Jace and Clary need to finally enjoy the lack of war (I was gonna say peace, but thats not really a shadowhunter thing) and have some fun before they settle down). Overall I love this book, its characters, and CC for creating it all!

This is the spoiler Forum, but so far I don't see any spoilers. I guess I'll be the one to start. I only JUST finished the book (and I loved it). There are two things that are bothering me though. 1. Wasn't there said to be two weddings? I only saw Luke and Jacqueline's. and 2. There were supposed to be 6 characters we knew who died. I only counted 5 (Maureen, Jordan, Luke's Sister, Jordan, and Raphael <not in that order>) ...Yes. Magnus and Alec DO get back together. I loved it too! It was Praetor Scott btw

The wedding comic strip shows them together and Simon was covered in Marks so he is a Shadowhunter! I think it was a perfect ending since they stayed together!

So, can someone tell me how to get the special edition of this book with the comic and stuff at the end? I thought I'd ordered that, but my copy didn't have it in it. Does a certain store have it or something? Thanks in advance:)

Hi Everyone! My name is Laura and I am a HUGE TMI fan who has MAJOR feels about COHF. Boy, do I have A LOT going on inside of my head about COHF, I'd love to talk about what I've been thinking today. Before I continue, I will admit, I have NOT read the book, and, I don't know if I will. Honestly, it just sounds too emotionally draining to me. What I have come across has yanked my heart right out. For right now, I'd love to talk about Sebastian/Jonathan. I could never have imagined that I would develop the feels for him as I have. I am stunned as to the kind of feels that I've been having. Actualy, more than anyone else. I have NEVER had these kinds of feels EVER. I must be not seeing something bc these feels are worse than ANY other book that I have read (or not read)!!
I am completely aware with what he has done. Jonathan was dealt a tough and unfair hand. A tough tough life. I feel SOO bad for him. He deserved so much more. He deserved love. He deserved companionship, a family etc.. He practically had no control over what he was dealt.. It broke my heart.
So, when Clary did what she did with the sword, and his eyes turned their true color of green, and Jonathan was able to reveal himself and repent, that was just SO heartbreaking. What a brave boy/man to repent. This seemed to be a slow way of doing it, he said that he felt lighter, and was able to feel both physicaly and mentally. Why? He ddn't deserve it. It was so beautiful that he was good, repented, expressed his feelings, his dream, helped Clary, and saw how he was loved. And passed inhis mothers arms. *SOBBING* And what Clary did over the Lake?? "Forever.." Are you kidding me? Rip my heart out why don't you! And you have been! All day! And the dream?? Get me another box of tissues will you! Yes, we got to see the real Jonathan, but, for such a short amount of time, what a tease. I really am glad that he was able to turn good, he didn't have ANY demon blood in him. but..he deserved so much more. Yes, he did what he did, but, he still deserved more. I had hoped and wished that he would stay around longer, since he was good.
I just saw a drawing of Jonathan, and it was I believe one of the teasers, which stated basically, how can a boy be raised as a devil, be anything but a demon. Ever since reading this, I felt even more badly for him. He's not a demon, despite how he was raised. For this reason, at least, Jonathan deserves a good TMI ending. What about making him a Silent Brother like Jem was, or something?? That'd help him, I believe.
As I completely acknowledge the things that he has done, I feel that he is still redeemable. Everyone on this earth is redeemable. It might be difficult to do so, but, he is. Forgive. I believe, I think, Clary had some sort of doubt regarding Sebastian's being. On his really being good. Yes, Jonathan would feel certainly the guilt, the shame and everything that went along with this, but, he would heal over time. Now, with what happened, I think, through "death", everything is in limbo. Forgive and heal.
I do REALLY hope that Cassie will somehow...somehow..bring Jonathan back in future books..
